APERTO gallery is proud to present the Kirilll Makarov show "To My Only Desire", exhibition of a young St. Petersburg artist. At Kirill exhibition APERTO will present etchings, paintings and small sculptures. The following works were created under impression made by a series of six French tapestries “The Lady and the Unicorn” (French: La Dame à la licorne) Allegorical interaction between categories of the sensual and the spiritual, the dual nature of beauty become the nucleus of the exhibition thematism, which gets surrounded by an elegant aesthetic space. Going on a trip with the hero of the exhibition, we find ourselves in a world of subtle nuances, illusions and allusions, built at the intersection of shapes, textures, times and genres. Does the hero receive the only possible answer to his spiritual quest? - No, but he gets something much more important - the ability to respond, enclosed in a plurality of aesthetically beautiful characters who join him in the game. It tells us the story of a lady who takes possession of her own senses and abandons the world of earthly passions in order to free her soul. Her choice is an antique libertum arbitrium ... The Hero takes a walk, which turns into a symbolic journey. He stands on the threshold of a decision making, accomplishment of an creative act. Free will determines the meaning of existence and gives the hero an opportunity to make a choice… And the freedom of action – is neither more nor less than an opportunity to achieve your goal"
